Book Cover

March 31, 2011

I am most sincerely stoked to declare – finished – with my book cover design.

I am happy to entertain any questions or comments about this project.

Welcome Back to the Jungle

March 28, 2011

More on the Jungle Book retelling. Three oil paintings to give an idea on how I am approaching this retelling. I have a good portion of it thought out in various notebooks and on too many lost napkins. I hope to start storyboarding soon.

Identity Package (promo card)

February 9, 2011

I have just finished the artwork for my business card.

The objective was to create a business card that stands out from all of the others out there. Something that will immediately grab an Art Director’s attention (and hold on to it for a bit). Being a deviant, I thought it fitting to deviate from the norm.

The illustration on the front of the card is kinda like my Jekyll and Hyde.
Some might recognize Ellimi (Culsu), Sidhe guardian of the gates – a most malefic muse indeed.

I’d love to know what you think and if you would like to share your own business card ideas.

Newest work: Azryel

November 16, 2010

This is a sketch of one of the projects that I’m working on right now. This is a lasting impression I’ve had of the angel of death, Azryel. I’m exploring a few concepts in this piece that I hope will translate well when it’s done.

Eala more progress

July 10, 2010

It’s been a while since I posted anything.

Here’s a bit more progress on Eala (my swan).
When this is done I’ll make sure to post the bit of myth that inspired this piece.

Eala W.I.P. (part 4.5)

June 24, 2010

The cool monochromatic Dead Layer is done. The next step in the process is to add the color layer. I have to admit, I am hesitant to work on this layer. I find myself needing to leave some areas somewhat un-worked, as I have a tendency to over polish and stress over the details.

The good thing about this layer is that it will dry very fast, I used a mineral spirit concoction while I was painting to help it dry faster. This way I’ll be able to glaze my color layer as early as tonight.

Speaking of Zombies

June 22, 2010

…which I have a want to do on occasion.

I recently completed (if you could call anything complete) my zombie pinups.

Another piece I did for class.

The concept = taking classic iconography (the pinup), apply a contemporary twist (the catholic schoolgirl uniform, the surfer girl and the hippie chick) – add zombies and you have a whole lotta fun.

I’m probably opening a fragrant can of freshly dead worms here, but let me know what you think.
