Moving…
It is time (long past time) to move my portfolio to a more appropriate place.
Please find me here: https://jaredhall.artstation.com
I will keep this blog around til August 2016 (maybe longer, not too sure) so anyone still wandering around can find that I’ve moved.

Digital Matte Painting update
Digital Matte painting
I have not done a matte painting in a while. I know there are hundreds of floating castles, but I’ve never done one. After seeing Mont Saint Michel, I could not resist. I will probably add to this at some point (anchor chains and resolve some of the texture issues), but for now I needed to post it and get it out of my system. Done in Photoshop (about 5 hours).
Recent Project
I have recently finished the CD packaging for Brett Orr’s Foundations. It was an honor to work on this project. Brett is an amazing guy and his music is absolutely fantastic. You can find him here http://www.triplejunearthed.com/BRETTORR (definitely worth a listen)
Epona Sidhe
Epona is the Horse Goddess of the ancient Gauls and Celts. One of the most well known deities in the Celtic pantheon, Epona Sidhe is one of the original projects of MaleficMuseStudios. As she would have been, when the world was young, unicorn archer of the Sidhe. I am very excited about the completion of this particular piece, she’s been unfinished for far too long.
Louie
Today you find yourselves all equally blessed. For I have the pleasure of introducing to you to a king, sired by the goddess of chaos herself. A king who can trace his ancestry beyond the invention of the wheel. We first met him among the jungle ruins, as he entertained a young man cub, asking that he share the secrets of conflagration and illumination. Here in the jungle ruins, as self proclaimed king of the lawless monkey tribes, he still searches to unlock the mystery of man’s red flower. And so my lords and ladies, without further ado, I give to you, the seeker of flame, the sworn enemy of the serpent and tiger alike, the enforcer of the lawless, the king of the swingers, on his own sort of Promethean quest, the admittedly mad King Louie.

Welcome Back to the Jungle
More on the Jungle Book retelling. Three oil paintings to give an idea on how I am approaching this retelling. I have a good portion of it thought out in various notebooks and on too many lost napkins. I hope to start storyboarding soon.
- General Hathi standing guard over the jungle’s last water source during the great drought. Sheer Khan, in classic villain fashion, tainting the water with the blood of his last kill.
- Mowgli’s three teachers. Bagheera – the shadow of shadows, Kaa – the great blind serpent, and Baloo – the drunken sage.
- Mowgli and his brothers after the death of Akela.
Identity Package (promo card)
I have just finished the artwork for my business card.
The objective was to create a business card that stands out from all of the others out there. Something that will immediately grab an Art Director’s attention (and hold on to it for a bit). Being a deviant, I thought it fitting to deviate from the norm.
The illustration on the front of the card is kinda like my Jekyll and Hyde.
Some might recognize Ellimi (Culsu), Sidhe guardian of the gates – a most malefic muse indeed.
I’d love to know what you think and if you would like to share your own business card ideas.
